Nursery and Children’s Church
Our nursery is staffed every Sunday from 7:45 a.m. through the end of the 10:30 service and reception. Children appropriate for the nursery are infants through 4-year-olds. A safety lock has been installed on the door to Stirling Hall near the garden; if you are coming to get your child for Communion, please press the buzzer at the door and someone will let you in.
Children 5 and older should attend Godly Play or remain with their parents; the nursery room is too small for larger children to be there without overwhelming the toddlers.
Baptismal Dates
For the parents of new babies in the parish and soon-to-be-born babies – here is a list of days appropriate for baptism. Children and adults who have not been baptized may refer to these dates also.
Traditional days for baptism include the Bishop’s visitation (which changes annually); All Saints’ Day (November 1) or the first Sunday after; the first Sunday after Epiphany – the Baptism of Jesus; the Easter Vigil; and Pentecost.
Sunday School: Godly Play
During the school year, classes are offered for 5-year-olds through 6th grade, following the Godly Play curriculum.
Children have an innate sense of the presence of God. The Godly Play approach helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience though wonder and play. Based on Montessori principles and developed using a spiral curriculum, the Godly Play method serves children through early, middle and late childhood and beyond.
Godly Play Foundation
The Godly Play Doorkeepers help the children prepare for hearing the day’s story, while the Storytellers tell stories from the bible using a variety of figures and images. Children may work in crafts during class, and bring home what they’ve made. Godly Play takes a summer break and resumes in the fall.
**During Covid-19 pandemic, the class meets via Zoom video conferencing. Contact the church office to find out how your child may join.
Adult Classes
The adult Sunday School class meets throughout the year, taking breaks as the group decides. Named after its longtime leader, Beth Murray, it is a study class usually centered around books or DVDs by contemporary theologians, or on pertinent topics, and lively discussion on the issues. The group meets in the Walter K. Smith Room of the Parish Hall.
**Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this class is meeting via Zoom video conferencing. Contact the church office for connection information.
Other short-term classes are offered as needs are assessed.
Rector’s Forum
The Rector’s Forum is our name for the newcomers’ class and a refresher on Episcopal Church history, all rolled into one. It’s intended for adults seeking to join All Saints, particularly those who are new to the Episcopal tradition, but anyone is welcome. Typically the class meets two Tuesday evenings a month in the Saad Conference Room of the Parish Hall.
